Inter:Play

Inter-Play is an exhibition of interactive experiences inspired by projects on brain and behaviour, microbial communities and sleep and circadian rhythms. Designed to spark curiosity about the research themes and questions, these included a giant petri dish showing the relationship between microbes and a universal sleep machine to optimise your circadian rhythm. The exhibition and objects were created under the MILES (Models and Mathematics in Life and Social Sciences) programme, which was conceived as a way of encouraging academics from different disciplines to step out of their comfort zone and collaborate.

  • Giant petri dish inoculated with bacteria. The plastic shapes are used like in a strategy board game to follow the spread of each colony.
  • Universal Sleep Machine, calculates whether or not you've had enough sleep.
